How to align business with a responsible cause: General Mills Case
Aligning the business with a responsible cause must become a pillar within companies, especially because stakeholders are showing loyalty to those brands aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that seek to guarantee global well-being.
SDG and social responsibility
In this case, we decided to take as an France Mobile Number List example the food brand General Mills , a company that developed an initiative based on goal two of the SDGs, which is focused on ending all forms of hunger and malnutrition by 2030. Let's see.
Align the business with a responsible cause
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, General Mills decided to focus on reducing child hunger and malnutrition, so it engaged with the World Food Program (WFP) and Tata Trusts. The goal is to bring nutritious food to India's youngest population.
For General Mills, creating an alliance with PMA opens an important opportunity to fulfill its mission. This is because the program has collaborated for more than 50 years in India to achieve self-sufficiency in food production.
With the support of General Mills, the World Food Program is providing technical assistance to the Government of India, introducing an approach to improve the nutritional efficiency of the Government's food-based safety nets.
Eric Kenefick, Deputy Country Director, WFP India, mentioned that at the General Mills Foundation, WFP has been able to demonstrate scalable models to address micronutrient deficiencies among children in India.

We are pleased to note that the Government is already expanding rice fortification, which will have a sustained and positive impact on the lives of millions of children, Kenefick said.
General Mills' partnership with WFP was first launched in India in 2017, when they made a $500,000 donation to support school midday meals.
The pilot was launched in Dhenkanal, district of Odisha, where a large proportion of school children suffered from anaemia. Meals served in government-run schools were fortified with micronutrients such as iron and zinc.

Currently this initiative reaches nearly 290 thousand students with school meals enriched with micronutrients.
What has been the success?
Part of the positive results of this program was the responsible alliance that was created with non-governmental organizations. In addition, by working as a team it is possible to develop better child development service schemes.
These interventions are further helping efforts towards integration of fortification into India's national policies. The intention is to reach more girls and boys in the country with nutrient-enriched meals.

Part of its mission also focuses on strengthening school meal programs to reduce childhood hunger. General Mills launched another similar partnership with Tata Trusts in 2016, which has enabled transformative change to combat malnutrition.
Alliances with a responsible cause
Tata Trusts adopted a multi-pronged approach to address malnutrition effectively and at scale. To do so, it has developed and invested in programs that offer healthy and nutritious meals to vulnerable sectors, focusing especially on girls and boys.
The ACK model, powered by this partnership between Tata Trust and General Mills, has set up kitchens that provide fresh, nutritious and tasty meals to students in tribal schools in Maharashtra.
General Mills employees also contribute voluntarily to the program, and have provided critical technical input to help improve quality assurance mechanisms in kitchens.
Tata Trusts feels privileged to have a corporate partner like General Mills, which is contributing immensely to the central kitchens project through funding, technical guidance and employee volunteerism, said Madhusudhan Rao, Theme Leader, Nutrition, Tata Trusts.
Food for healthy development
The new generations are the ones who will lead the world of tomorrow, for this reason, it is essential to contribute to their healthy development. As a global food company, General Mills is committed to ending hunger by increasing food security.
General Mills believes that by expanding and strengthening access to school meals with partners like Tata Trusts and WFP, children will be better nourished and ready to learn, improving not only their nutritional status but their educational attainment and well-being, Kenefick shared.
Any company that claims to be socially responsible must align its business with a responsible cause, and above all, integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into its pillar. Improving the world situation depends on this, and ensuring that new generations can live in a sustainable way tomorrow.
